KITCHEN ESSENTIALS
We could talk about different kitchen tools until the end of time. There are so many options out there! Which can be good or get kind of annoying. "I just want to cook! What do I need to buy??" We get it. You just want an easy answer. We'll start with the basics.
CHEFS KNIFE
Get yourself a decent knife. The knife you will use the most is a Chef's Knife. Prices on these knives can range from a few bucks to hundreds. You don't have to spend hundreds to get a good knife. Look around, read reviews & see what knife you can afford.

NON-STICK PAN
A non-stick pan is a must have in home kitchen. It's almost impossible to make perfect eggs without one. Searing fish is a lot easier. They also keep pancakes from tearing apart in the pan. Non-stick gets a bad rap because they can release toxins into food if not used properly. But if used properly, it is a great cooking tool.
STAINLESS STEEL COOKWARE
Stainless steel is the cookware of choice for both amateur and professional cooks. Its durable & has the superior ability to brown meat. You can also go straight from stovetop to broiler because of its oven-safe capabilities. The only down side is that stainless steel pans can require a little more work to clean. But with proper maintenance, you can keep them looking practically new for their entire lifespan.
CAST IRON SKILLET
A cast iron skillet is incredibly durable and should last many lifetimes. Cast iron is heavy and can be used over high heat on the stovetop (on gas, electric, glass, and induction burners!), in the oven, or even on the grill or over a campfire.
It excels at holding in heat, which makes it the go-to pan for searing. There’s simply no other way to get a ribeye with a crusty exterior and a rosy interior like the one you get from cooking it in cast iron. Cast iron is also affordable, so it won't break the budget.
MEASURING SPOONS & CUPS
Inevitably in a kitchen you will need to measure quantities. Different recipes call for certain amounts of this or that. There are many types of measuring sets out there you can buy. Some are stainless steel, some are plastic, glass, etc.
There really is no right or wrong set to buy. But you want to ask yourself, are you measuring liquids or dry ingredients? There are sets you can buy for either option.
